Drum student Liam plays welcome to my life by Simple Plan. This is of intermediate difficulty and younger students like to play this song because it can be relatable to them at times. It has a catchy beat with a good amount of sixteenth notes mixed in. The song bridge is usually where I introduce the concept of cross sticking where the stick is used to hit the rim of the snare while laying flat. There is also some Hi-Hat play with some sixteenth note double taps in the bridge. This is a great introduction to jazz rhythms. Overall I think Liam did well and now we are onto the next song!
