Isaac Performs "Earrings" by Malcolm Todd | Drum Lessons in Tooele County, Utah Isaac recorded another song during his weekly drum lessons, performing "Earrings" by Malcolm Todd in the studio.
Released on April 5, 2024, "Earrings" is the opening track from Malcolm Todd's debut mixtape, "Sweet Boy." Written by Malcolm Todd and Jonah Cochran, the song quickly connected with listeners through its blend of indie pop, alternative R&B, and nostalgic production. The track explores themes of heartbreak, missed opportunities, and the struggle to reconnect with someone after a relationship begins to fade.
Built around catchy melodies, layered vocals, grooving percussion, and retro-inspired keys and guitar riffs, "Earrings" became a breakout hit for Malcolm Todd and experienced a major rise in popularity through streaming platforms and social media.
Unlike many traditional rock songs, "Earrings" was created by multi-instrumentalist Malcolm Todd, who also co-produced the track. No official studio drummer has been specifically credited for the song, making it a great example of modern music production where artists often program percussion or perform multiple instrumental parts themselves.

What happens during a weekly 30-minute drum lesson?
Each lesson is personalized to match the student's goals, musical interests, and skill level. Students learn to play along with popular songs they choose themselves, helping them stay motivated and excited to practice.
During each lesson, the student and teacher review any sections of the song that need extra attention. Once all parts of the song have been mastered, students have the opportunity to create a professional in-studio recording using high-tech multi-camera equipment.
The recording process only takes just a few minutes and gives students a chance to celebrate their progress while building confidence behind the drum set.
After recording, students receive a band sticker for their collection and choose a new song with their instructor based on the techniques they want to learn and the music that inspires them.
The selected song is printed and added to the student's binder, where the teacher and student work through the structure, grooves, fills, and challenging sections together.
Students also continue progressing through the Drums In Color method, learning new beats, fills, rhythms, rudiments, and reading skills.
For every chapter completed in the Drums In Color books, students earn reward stickers and reward points that can be redeemed for band posters, canvases, and other incentives.
